KSC Cleans Up the Neighborhood For MLK Day
KENSINGTON, Pa. — Despite the harsh cold, over 100 community volunteers gathered together to grab their street cleaning supplies and participate in Kensington Soccer Club’s community cleanup on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Organized by KSC staff and members of our Youth Leadership Council, volunteers helped clean up seven quadrants between Diamond Street and Dauphin St, starting at Norris Square Park and heading westwards toward North Orianna Street, where hot food and beverages were ready to serve for volunteers at the KSC clubhouse.
Volunteers came from a number of participating organizations, including:
Tamman Inc. (who also provided $1,000 towards refreshments)
Councilmember At-Large Helen Gym also came out to help with the cleanup efforts, speaking to our Youth Leaders about the importance of organizing and participating in community initiatives.
The cleanup was also made possible with additional support from the Philadelphia Community Life Improvement Program, which provided a number of cleaning supplies from shovels, trash bags, and brooms.
