Uniting the broader Kensington community with soccer & youth development programs for all, regardless of ability to pay.
Our primary focus is on serving and building the Kensington community and adjacent neighborhoods, but we also meet a crucial citywide need. We attract families and players of all ages from across the city who are looking for a welcoming soccer club that never turns anyone away. This is made easier due to our central location and proximity to public transit.
We understand that a strong and vibrant community can be crucial to individual development and success, which is why we believe in contributing to ours in any way we can.
Knowing this, we eliminate barriers to participation by going to where youth already are and make all our programs either free or pay-what-you-can. We also:
Bring together youth from all backgrounds and incorporate academic enrichment, health & nutrition education, mentorship, and violence prevention into all our programs.
We grow our own coaches, mentors, and leaders from our teens, young adults, and parents.
We advocate for our youth and families and we work to connect them to community resources and opportunities.
Everything we do keeps one goal in mind: maximize the positive impact we have on the lives of our players, their families, and the community.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Since the beginning, President Jim Hardy and other club organizers have represented Kensington Soccer Club at community meetings and events to ensure the community is aware of all opportunities we offer.

COMMUNITY COACHING
Our adult and teen coaches go out into the community to lead soccer clinics at a number of different sites and community festival events. Here, they learn the responsibilities and impact they have as a youth coach. They then take what they learn and implement it into their future development.
Here are some of the sites where our teens have coached at:

CITYWIDE REACH
We realize the importance that teenagers can have on their community, serving as voices for the youth in the community and serving as a relatable role model for younger children.
Here is a map of high schools across Philadelphia where our teens have come from to play, work, and volunteer for us:

COMMUNITY FESTIVALS
We want to support and be a part of everything positive that's happening in the community. We also want every child to have a chance to play soccer and feel welcome to join our teams.
Community Festivals are a way for us to make sure we achieve that.
When we’re invited to these festivals, our staff, interns, and volunteers run fun and open soccer clinics to provide every child in attendance an opportunity to play soccer.
When possible, we’ll provide balls, books, and shirts plus information on how they can continue to get involved with us.
