FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
Does Kensington Soccer Club solely operate in Kensington?
Actually, no! Though our primary focus is to serve and build up the community of Kensington and adjacent neighborhoods, we also work with players and families across all of Philadelphia who are looking for a welcoming soccer club that never turns anyone away. This is made easier due to our central location and proximity to public transit.
How old do I have to be to participate?
Anyone between the ages of 3-18 can participate in any of our free or "Pay-What-You-Can" soccer programs.
We do have a CASA Soccer League team (comprised mostly of KSC Alumni) for players 18 and older. Those under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian consent. Because these players are out of the age range, we do ask that they pay full amount. Players under 18 are still eligible for donations and grants to cover costs.
Where do I go to play?
Our locations vary, depending on the programs we're offering in a current season.
Head to our Play With Us page to see what locations we're at for the current season.
Do you offer after-school programs?
Yes we do! Check out our After-School Soccer page to see what schools we're currently working with.
Note: After-School programs are restricted to students who attend the respective school we're working with.
Do I have to pay to play?
Not at all! Our programs are either free or "Pay-What-You-Can."
What is "pay-what-you-can" and how does it work?
"Pay-What-You-Can" gives parents and players the option to play without having to stress over costs. With this program, we set an amount — usually between $5-125 — and trust an individual to contribute whatever they can. Though one isn't required to pay, we do encourage a payment so that we can continue to fund our efforts and keep our programs largely accessible.
We do offer scholarships and grants to cover costs for those who cannot afford it.
Is any equipment required to play?
No, equipment is not required to play. We do encourage you to bring your own equipment if you have it but we provide access to our equipment available in our clubhouse (which players gain access to when they signup to play).
Equipment we provide includes cleats, indoor shoes, balls, uniforms, and training equipment.
Notes: When signing up, we require a $5 refundable deposit to gain access to our cleats season-long. This helps ensure that rented cleats are returned to us.
How often do you offer soccer games and programs?

Where do I go to register myself/my child to participate?
If a program requires registration, you'll find a "Register" button under the program lisiting.
Check out our Play With Us and Programs pages to determine if a certain program requires registration.
My child is new to soccer. Can they start out playing competitively?
We suggest that children who are new to soccer start out in the recreational program to learn the basic skills and rules of play, and then open up the possibility of playing on a competitive team.
There are always exceptions, but we want to make sure we set children up for success as best as possible.
