Kensington Soccer Club Chosen as Recipient of $35,000 Grant
Kensington Soccer Club was awarded a $35,000 Violence Prevention Grant from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office for its efforts in violence prevention.
Since 2010, the club has geared its efforts to provide positive and healthy environments for the youth in the Kensington neighborhood and this grant will allow KSC to expand the reach and impact of its mission.
As said by the DA’s Office in a new release, KSC was one of a number of groups who “help prevent violence in communities across the city by collectively ensuring that our youth are engaged in productive activities, are self-empowered to become leaders for their community, and provide the mentoring and educational supports necessary to help them flourish as they grow into adulthood.”
These funds will help KSC provide more access to safe spaces and programs, including the Teen Leadership Initiative, for youth in Kensington and other neighborhoods.
