Three of Kensington Soccer Club’s teen coaches were recognized as youth ambassadors for the Philadelphia 2026 World Cup Bid Committee at the opening of its new exhibit at Independence Visitors Center.

Anthony Acevedo, Yancarlo Corredor and Zathdielys Davila, along with other youth players from different soccer clubs, will assist the committee in its bid to bring the World Cup to Philadelphia. As youth ambassadors, they’ll help show off the city’s love for soccer and its growing popularity.

“Bringing [the World Cup] here would be exciting and a big step because people would be more interested in playing soccer,” Davila said.

The Pitch, which will be on display from June 29-October 31, is a free interactive exhibit where visitors can partake in soccer activities and register their support for Philadelphia’s bid. Also on display is the “Love of the Game” Fan Collective — an exhibit where players, coaches and fans of the game can hang up some of their favorite soccer memories with memorabilia, photographs, patches, newspaper clips, etc.

As part of The Pitch’s opening ceremony, youth ambassadors were given a medal for their onboarding by former U.S. Women’s National Team defender and three-time Olympic gold medalist Heather Mitts. The youth ambassadors also pinned up the first pieces of memorabilia from their respective clubs on the “Love of the Game” exhibit.

“As a player and a fan, these are experiences I’ll never forget,” Acevedo said.

Anyone who wants to show their support for the bid can do so here.
