Serving the Youth as Teachers and Non-Profit Leaders

Kensington Soccer Club Executive Director Jim Hardy and BookSmiles Executive Director Larry Abrams sat down with StoryCorps to discuss the importance of serving the youth as teachers and leaders of non-profits.

StoryCorps is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world.”

Over the last couple of years, BookSmile has been responsible for providing a large number of books to the youth of Kensington Soccer Club, who aim to provide children more than just soccer.

In the interview, Hardy and Abrams discuss the origins of their respective organizations, their partnership, the “equality of opportunity,” the support they receive when they confront difficulties and future hopes that they have for their work in the community.
