Q&A With CASA Soccer Philly - Donor Stories
A volunteer-led non-profit that provides the Philadelphia, South Jersey, and Boston areas with organized soccer at a reasonable cost, CASA Soccer League has become the largest independent amateur soccer league in the region, with a mission to advance amateur soccer locally and nationally.
President Nolan Bair, DEI Office Yunio Martinez, and Website/IT Coordinator Ryan White from CASA Soccer Philly took time to discuss why they donate to Kensington Soccer Club.
Q: Why did CASA decide to donate to Kensington Soccer Club?
A: Bair
“We at CASA feel like we have connections in the grassroots community and Kensington does as well. We feel like we have that mutual connection. Since we don’t have a youth program, we wanted to support an organization that does. The best way to do that is through Kensington Soccer Club.”
Q: Kensington Soccer Club is all about diversity. Do you feel our diversity is one reason CASA decided to make a donation?
A: Martinez
“KSC serves the underserved in the community, and this is our way to give back to them and to show support.”
Q: In your opinion, what impact does Kensington have on the community?
A: Bair
“What Kensington does is get youth involved from all walks of life in a game we love. Unlike many other soccer clubs, KSC does this at a low cost. Kensington is not pay to play. Not everybody has the means and ability to join soccer clubs. Kensington brings the game to the community and that’s really important.”
A: Martinez
“KSC offers programs to kids and they’re not just kids who are learning to play soccer. [I believe] they will also give back in the future.
Q: How important do you think youth development is and why do clubs and organizations like CASA donate to such efforts?
A: White
“I feel that supporting youth is good because it keeps them playing soccer instead of being in the street.”
Q: What would say to other organizations who are looking to make a donation?”
A: Bair
“There’s no better place to start. If you want to make an impact in the soccer community in Philadelphia, I would start with Kensington Soccer Club.”
A: Martinez
“Why wait? You should go for it, it’s a way to give back to the community.”
A: White
"It’s a great way to give directly to the people around you who are making a difference. You can’t find a better cause than KSC.”
