KSC WorkReady Program Participants Plan Service Project
This week our WorkReady program started its 5th year at KSC. WorkReady offers the opportunity for teens to learn professional skills while working in our community. As a part of the program teens are planning a service project to address some of the needs in the local community.
Carlos Acosta and Jakeema Burton led the group on a walking tour through Kensington. They were able to see some of the changes near our office in J-Centrel in relation to the rest of the neighborhood.
This week they will decide on a service project to focus on, and divide into 4 small groups to plan an event.
It is awesome to see teens brainstorming solutions to problems in our immediate and more distant surroundings.
They will have the chance to engage in discussion specifically about gun violence in a panel hosted at the clubhouse. At this panel, the WorkReady and Youth Leadership Council members will have the opportunity to connect and discuss an issue which effects them all.
