Kensington Soccer Club is Voted Club of the Year
Kensington Soccer Club was nominated by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Soccer Commissioner Steve Schmidt for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame “Club of the Year” Award. Steve Schmidt was a recipient of the “Chick Fallon Award” in recognition of his over 38-years of service. We have worked with Steve for years to provide opportunities to play soccer locally. We are familiar with Steve’s work as a supervisor for Towey Playground, but Steve is known for his contributions to the soccer community through his philanthropy, his leadership in the Philadelphia International Unity Cup, and his career as a coach and referee. We are honored that he recognized the importance of our work considering his incredible work advancing opportunities for youth through Philadelphia soccer.
As we reflect on this award, we are reminded that this would not have been possible without our incredible community. We would like to thank our coaches, volunteers, staff, supporters, and families for all of the ways you have helped propel us towards our goal of uniting the community with quality and affordable soccer. In the past year alone, we have launched new programs, reached new people, and expanded our team. As an organization, it is important to emphasize that this is a win FOR US ALL.
The entire staff is elated by this recognition for our work. This award affirms that our impact is not restricted to the youth we work with, but resonates throughout the entire soccer community. Pat Hardy, who was notified of our award, says, “We are a part of a wave of influencing the soccer establishment in Philly and surrounding counties to be more open, diverse, and help more kids access the sport, without thinking everything has to be outside of city limits. Our reason for being there is to let this very big and influential soccer community know what we’re doing.” Ultimately this is a fantastic opportunity for us to share why we think KSC is the “Club of the Year” with soccer fans that know less about our work.
While we plan to celebrate this recognition throughout the year, there is a special opportunity to join a banquet hosted by SEPA on May 13th from 5:00 to 10:00 PM at Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein, 9031 Academy Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19114. The tickets for the banquet cost $60 , and we invite you to attend. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, please use this link (here) to fill out an interest form. We will be selling tickets to you directly.
