KENSINGTON SOCCER CLUB OVERVIEW
We are a growing, dynamic, grassroots, sports-based youth development organization looking for an outgoing person who loves to connect with people and organize and support them to make a difference.
Kensington Soccer Club is not your typical youth sports organization. We are eliminating the barriers to participation in the beautiful game while building community in and around the sport within our diverse urban neighborhood. We offer quality soccer and youth development programs for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
Our organization brings together youth from all backgrounds and incorporates academic enrichment, health & wellness education, mentorship, and violence prevention into all programming. We advocate for our youth and families — connecting them to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed on the field and in life — through our active participation in over 20-community civic organizations.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We have strong relationships with many grassroots community organizations such as recreation center advisory councils, civic associations, and school friends groups. We frequently attend community meetings and events to let them know about our programs, find ways to get more community members involved in KSC, and hear from them about their needs and concerns.
The Community Outreach Coordinator will help us develop and maintain those relationships by:
Setting up KSC participation in community events (block parties, festivals, community celebrations) where we can run clinics and get the word out about our programs;
Spreading the word about our programs to an increased number of potential participants by attending community meetings and community events;
Recruiting volunteers and supporters at community events and meetings;
Facilitating sponsorships with the local businesses who are often active in these groups, in coordination with our Director of Development;
Working as a liaison between community groups and other KSC staff.
Identifying prospects for more extensive partnerships with community groups;
Help organize events for our KSC community and coordinate other organizations to participate in our events when needed;
Support KSC youth leaders to engage with the community and partner organizations.
